The Yanez Laboratory at the Cedars-Sinai Regenerative Medicine Institute is looking for personnel to join our emerging group. We are studying the molecular mechanisms of myeloid cell differentiation during steady-state and cancer. The incumbent should have an interest in the basic science of immunology, stem cells and hematology. By investigating how myeloid cells differentiate we will be able to understand better diseases with aberrant patterns of differentiation, such as myeloid leukemias. The laboratory technician will, under the direction of the PI, assist in the conduct of research in immunology/hematology.
Working under direct supervision, the The Research Lab Assistant II performs lab cleaning and maintenance duties including washing and sterilizing glassware, operates autoclaves and other specialized equipment, utilizing special detergents or other cleaning agents. Assists in ordering and maintenance of cleaning supplies inventory. May be trained on the job in basic benchwork under close supervision of PI or other designated laboratory supervisor. May oversee or assist Research Lab Assistant I.
Performs lab cleaning and maintenance duties, including washing and sterilization of glassware, operation of autoclaves and other specialized equipment.
May assist in performance of experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in a specific area of research.
May be trained on-the-job in basic benchwork under close supervision of PI or other designated laboratory supervisor.
Performs administrative duties in laboratory or in accordance with research project.
Maintains project records, as required.
Orders laboratory supplies and reagents in a timely manner.
Assists in maintaining laboratory and laboratory equipment record keeping.
Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational Requirements:
College coursework in Biological Sciences preferred.
One to two (1-2) years actual lab experience including: biochemical research techniques, preparation of reagents and solutions, order/inventory of laboratory supplies, data input, organization and miscellaneous lab functions. Knowledge of basic Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is preferred. Thorough knowledge of routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to support the activity of one or more research labs. Uses specialized equipment and materials. Complies with safety standards and procedures. Ability to be trained in basic benchwork on-the-job.
