City National Bank Accountant III in Los Angeles, California

As a member of the Controllers Department, this colleague will primarily perform responsibilities for the bank's fixed assets portfolio and perform other various accounting and reporting functions related to the FDIC Assisted Acquisition Loans. This colleague will also assist with various ad-hoc general accounting deliverables.


  • Process and manage the fixed assets system, including additions, deletions, monthly depreciation

  • Maintain the accuracy of the fixed assets system

  • Monthly close of the fixed assets system

  • Reconciling the general ledger and its subsidiary ledger accounts

  • Code and approve fixed asset invoices

  • Respond to fixed asset inquiries

  • Process IT programmer hours related to deferred charges for IT projects

  • Maintain deferred charges (WIP) for open IT projects

  • Prepare quarterly fixed assets rollforward

  • Prepare and file annual unsecured property tax filings

  • Provide information for financial statement disclosures

  • Provide support to internal auditors, external auditors, the Federal Reserve, other regulatory authorities, and unsecured property tax auditors

  • Generate ad-hoc reports and analysis related to fixed assets for the various departments within the bank, RBC Holdco, and RBC

  • Work closely with the Project Management Office for IT Projects

  • Act as back-up approver for fixed asset purchases made through Coupa (Procurement System)

  • Identify process improvements/efficiencies for the fixed assets process

  • Work closely with the PeopleSoft Support Team and Finance Systems Manager

  • Various accounting and reporting functions related to the FDIC Assisted Acquisition Loans


  • *Bachelor's degree required

  • *Minimum 4 years of general accounting experience required

  • *Minimum 4 years of experience using Microsoft Office required

  • Prior experience with fixed assets system is preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred

  • Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures

  • Proficient in general accounting operations and procedures

  • Proven analytical skills and a current awareness of market based accounting technology

  • Excellent written and oral communication

  • Excellent project management and organization skills

  • Ability to interface with various levels of management

  • Experience working in the accounting department of a financial institution preferred

  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred
