If you're an experienced accountant with a knack for accuracy, there's currently an opening through Accountemps for Staff Accountant at a growing Banking firm. Set in the Glendale, California area, the company offering this short term temporary opportunity encourages innovation and rewards effort in the work place. The duties of Staff Accountant include fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, and the preparation of monthly and year-end closings. This position will require a fair amount of time dedicated to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. You'll also have responsibility over various aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You'll also review schedules for the reporting processes, stay in touch with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and play an active role in compliance.

What you get to do every single day - Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments - Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed - Partake in annual closing processes - Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls under SOX and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP - Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation - Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll - Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management - Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules - Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner - Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision
- Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail
- Recent and relevant accounting experience
- Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
- Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
- Be detailed, flexible, and organized
- Skilled with ERP systems
- Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
- Spreadsheet and database capabilities
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
- Bank reconciliations experience
- Financial reconciliation experience
- Deep understanding of Microsoft Excel
- Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
