The role of the Sr. Network Administrator is to ensure the stable operation of the network and in-house systems through the proper planning, deployment and monitoring of their components. Sr. Network Administrators will analyze and resolve hardware and software issues in a timely and accurate manner, and provide end user support when needed. The primary distinction of the Sr. Network Administrator comes from their expertise and experience in key technical areas. They are typically assigned more complex systems and relied upon for their assessment of scenarios that impact the enterprise network.


  • This position is responsible for installation, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, documentation and troubleshooting of network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls and security appliances, load balancers, circuits and other data communication components.

  • This position works closely with Enterprise Information Security to identify, implement and maintain infrastructure security standards.

  • Collaborate with management to assess short and long term capacity needs of the network

  • Provide network support to other IT technical staff for servers, storage, IP telephony, desktops, applications, databases and all other aspects of IT services

  • Create and maintain proper documentation for assigned systems

  • Provide end user support as needed

  • Maintain Inventories as assigned and participate in inter-disciplinary teams for a variety of IT projects and initiatives

  • Monitor LAN and WAN performance and prepare usage reports

  • Implement projects as assigned

  • Take steps necessary to maintain expertise in assigned systems

  • Interact with vendors as necessary to ensure department and company objectives are met

  • Research and recommend IT solutions to company and department needs

  • Direct or train other members of the department as necessary

  • Maintain current knowledge of disaster recovery plans and executables

  • Respond to emergency network or system outages as required

  • Occasional travel (Continental United States)

  • Document all support, project and Maintenance activity

  • Diligently and consistently follow departmental & organizational policies and procedures


  • Four year degree from an accredited institution is preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a network support environment

  • Two of the following certifications or comparable valid ones.

  • CCNA

  • CCNP

  • CCNP - Voice

  • Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices

  • Hands-on technical knowledge of network operating systems Cisco IOS, Cisco NX-OS, Riverbed, F5 Load Balancers

  • Advanced technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, including TCP \ IP, BGP, EIGRP

  • Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience

  • Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits

  • Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives

  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws

  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

  • Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required

  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language

  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Ability to work after hours and weekends as necessary
