Merkle Inc. Director, Media - Warner Bros (Theatrical) in Burbank, California

We are looking for an analytically minded, client strategy leader to join our digital media team. You will have the opportunity to be a part of an innovative, fast growing business unit focused on revolutionizing display media planning and buying, in the context of a multi-channel data driven approach. We are looking for an innovator who understands both marketing and technology, and who can aid with identifying business objectives and corresponding media solutions resulting in engagement and consideration among our clients’ target audiences.

The Director will provide regional leadership to our growing LA office and lead digital media efforts for our clients to build innovative marketing programs. This senior position will partner with experienced digital marketers on the client side, including VPs, Directors, and Sr. Managers, to build performance based marketing capabilities utilizing Merkle’s digital media platform, data, and analytics. Responsibilities include leadership for end-to-end digital marketing program strategy, development, and management for clients as well as SME for business development and product/service roadmap. /This position does require experience planning media campaigns for new releases./

Key Responsibilities

  • Focus on a short list of key clients to drive a positive relationship and growth

  • Design and champion innovative, sophisticated media strategies and campaigns that deliver against the client’s goals and drive unique value for our clients

  • Provide direction to the media services, platform, and capability resources as it pertains to the client work

  • Oversee program execution activities for team

  • Effectively lead multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously; trouble shoot and mitigate risks, as well as ensure effective communication around the plans

  • Development of management and measurement frameworks to steer and monitor program progress and success

  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with clients at all levels, handle and resolve issues and opportunities

  • Ensure the successful development and growth for assigned team members and contribute to career planning

  • Articulate and strategically deliver consultative messaging – both written and verbal – to senior leaders

  • Act as a media subject matter expert and support growth/sales efforts

  • Contribute thought leadership content to promote Merkle’s voice in the industry

  • Drive engagement across teams and create environment of open collaboration and recognition

  • Key contributor and driver of all of the media execution process documents, platform usage playbooks, training programs, optimization best practices, etc.

  • Consult with individual client teams as needed to ensure best practices are being used and to brainstorm new approaches to achieving client goals

This position reports to the Sr. Director or VP of Media Services.

  • 9-12+ years' of experience in the Professional Services and/or Technology industries in one or several functional areas, including: marketing, product/brand management, media, RTB display media, paid search, ad tech, media mix / statistical modeling, database marketing, product management, web technology, e-commerce, strategy

  • Demonstrated client management and consultative selling skills as well as the ability to interact at all levels of management, including the executive level, to advocate and influence in support of a vision and direction

  • Experience managing and overseeing online marketing programs, projects, and teams in an agency, consulting, industry, or software / service

  • An entrepreneurial spirit, desire to "change the game", a self-starter, and thinks outside of the box

  • Ability to think on one’s feet and manage dynamic situations and environments

  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including an analytic and fact-based approach to problem-solving

  • Passion for technology, with extensive knowledge of the ad tech ecosystem – DSP, DMP, AMP, SSP

  • Works effectively in a fast-paced, energetic team environment

  • Experience managing, developing and hiring talent

  • Willingness to travel 20%-30%
