AT&T Senior-Network Design Engineer in Torrance, California

Overall Purpose:

The Senior Network Design Engineer must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to work in a multi-vendor environment. This is a client facing role, so the candidate must be able to interact with different technical teams and application groups to understand their requirements and provide solutions accordingly.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may also include working with Labs, product development, and engineering teams to actually author process documentation, methods, procedures, and guidelines for current network planning, capacity management, and network builds. Coordinates and interfaces with internal and external customers to ensure service commitments are met. Uses engineering tools, various software applications, and databases to assist in creating the engineering documents. Prepares / oversees cost/benefit estimates, presentations, negotiations, installation, problem resolution, and multivendor product integration. May provide initial implementation support of networks to assure proper execution and provides resolution for system failures or degradations. Provide project management and documentation as required.

Job Contribution:

Senior level technical expertise. Deep technical knowledge and Subject Matter Expert on OSPF, BGP, EIBGP routing protocols.

Principal Competencies:

  • Expertise on F5 Load Balancers including Local Traffic Manager's (LTM’s), Global Traffic Manager's (GTM's) and Enterprise Manager

  • Knowledge in configuration, fine tuning and level 3 troubleshooting.

  • Expertise on the Blue Coat PacketShapers and Proxies

  • Knowledge in configuration, policy based traffic shaping and troubleshooting

  • Expertise on Infoblox DDI (DNS, DHCP and IP Address Management)

  • Expertise on PaloAlto firewalls, IDS and IPS devices

  • Expertise on packet capturing and deep packet analysis

  • Expertise on Design and engineering skills

  • Expertise on Niksun products, packet capture and analysis.

  • Expertise on Application Vantage packet analysis tool

  • Expertise on Juniper RAS appliances.

  • Configure, fine tune, manage and level3 troubleshooting

  • Vendor management and circuit provisioning.

  • Provide design recommendations for different methodologies.

  • Ability to project manage the small WAN projects

Desirable:

  • Cisco certifications, Route/Switch or Data Center CCNP or CCIE.

  • Performing Network application Readiness, Toyota proprietary application analysis methodology

  • Working knowledge on Checkpoint Firewalls and Cross Beam appliancesWorking knowledge of Cisco’s VXLAN Network with MP-BGP EVPN Control Plane Design

Education:

Typically an AS Degree or BS degree in Math, Science or Engineering preferred or equivalent related network experience.

Experience:

Typically at least 5-8 years of successful network engineering or related experience. Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role.

This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions.
