Providence is calling for an Associate Director of Foundation Relations ( Full Time / Day Shift ) position at Providence Foundation at our Valley or South Bay Offices, CA

Position Summary:

  • Reporting to the Director of Institutional Giving, the Associate Director of Foundation Relations will be responsible for securing and increasing support from institutional donors (foundations, corporations, governmental entities, associations, and other types of organizations) to advance the priorities of Providence Health and Services, Southern California – encompassing five medical centers (Providence Saint Joseph, Holy Cross, Tarzana, and Little Company of Mary Torrance and San Pedro Medical Centers), TrinityCare Hospice, and community health programs throughout the Valley and South Bay.

  • The Associate Director of Foundation Relations will support the work of the Institutional Giving Team through grant writing and management of his/her own portfolio of private and corporate foundations.

  • This position can be based out of our Valley or South Bay offices.

In this position you will:

  • Develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies for private and corporate foundation funders at the $50k> level. Develop and manage a portfolio of at least 50-75 current and prospective funders. Execute moves management plans for these donors and prospects.

  • Work closely with clinicians and program leads to write compelling grant proposals, letters of interest, concept papers, and other materials to support funding requests to foundation and government funders. Assist in the development of grant budgets. Develop 15-25 proposals/year.

  • Establish long-term partnerships and strengthen existing relationships with the private and corporate foundation sector. Organize and lead site visits with foundation executives and staff.

  • Maintain regular outreach to and communication with clinicians and program directors in order to identify Providence programs and initiatives that are likely to have strong appeal to local, regional, and national foundations.

  • Proactively communicate funding opportunities to clinicians and program leads region-wide.

  • Ensure high quality stewardship and reporting for active grants. In conjunction with program leads and grants accountants, monitor grants for program and fiscal compliance.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • At least 5 years foundation relations experience.

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent critical thinking and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated success at securing grant funding within a large, complex, multi-layered organization.

  • Proven ability to proactively create and lead cultivation and solicitation strategies.

  • Highly motivated self-starter and entrepreneurial team player with a commitment to and passion for the mission of Providence.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Advanced Degree preferred.

  • Experience within a healthcare environment.
