Southern California Edison Senior Energy Risk Analyst (AFN3) in Rosemead, California
The Senior Energy Risk Analyst will develop, analyze, manage, and maintains policies for SOX, Business Continuity Plan, and department process documents. The Analyst will works with Managers, contract managers, and other analysts to ensure appropriate processes and resources are in place. The Analyst will develop presentations for management review of the policies and represents Risk Management at companywide meetings on policies and processes.
The Senior Energy Risk Analyst will perform variation analysis on long term energy contracts (structured contracts) and high volume transactions (GHG, CAISO CRR) to ensure accuracy of payment to companies and transfer of allowances/credits. The Analyst will identify variances and work with contract managers to resolve discrepancies. The analyst may also propose changes to complex spreadsheets (UDAs) and implement changes in order to meet business needs.
The Senior Energy Risk Analyst will execute complex spreadsheets and systems to generate forward curves and MTM values for reporting purposes. The Analyst will independently analyze the MTM data and provide explanations for financial reporting for internal stakeholders and external auditors. The Analyst will be responsible for reviewing collateral instruments such as letters of credit, parental guarantees, surety bonds, escrow accounts, and cash, for accuracy and processes for approval. The Analyst will also enter all transactions in the credit and collateral management system to ensure accurate record of all collateral held and posted.
Develop, analyze, manage, and maintain SOX documents, process documents, and business continuity plans
Present documents and plans to Risk Management personnel
Represent Risk Management at companywide meetings regarding policies and documents
Perform variance analysis and validate structured contracts, GHG, and CRRs in the system of record for accuracy
Performs variance analysis for Risk Management GL cash accounts for financial and audit purposes
Analyzes Mark-to-Market (MTM) inputs for integrity prior to running daily, monthly, quarterly processes
Executes complex spreadsheets and systems to generate forward curves and MTM values for daily, monthly, and quarter end reporting
Independently analyzes MTM data and provide explanations for quarter-end financial reporting for internal stakeholders and external auditors
Receives and reviews collateral instruments such as letters of credit, parental guarantees, surety bonds, escrow accounts, and cash for accuracy and processes for approval
Enters all transactions in the credit and collateral management system to ensure accurate record of all collateral held and posted
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Economics or related field
Three years with experience in finance, accounting, or energy industry
Proficient with Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
Strong verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate effectively and with impact, with peers and management personnel
Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
Must demonstrate the ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to follow Edison Safety protocols and principals
Experience with energy contracts, risk management related to energy procurement, or the CAISO market
Knowledge of accounting processes and procedures
Demonstrated experience with macros, database queries
Knowledge of Entegrate, Endur, or other commodity trading systems
Experience with SAP
