Southern California Edison Energy Risk Analyst (AFN2) in Rosemead, California
The Energy Risk Analyst will be responsible for ensuring that energy trading transactions are entered into SCE’s system of record accurately and will monitor transactions to ensure they are within internally approved limits. The Analyst will also prepare validations of structured transactions in the system of record and validate transactions against CPUC limits. The Analyst will also prepare management reports that summarize transactions and exceptions.
The Energy Risk Analyst will also support with initiating, monitoring and managing collateral (i.e. letters of credits, parental guarantees, surety bonds, escrow accounts, sash) held or issued in by SCE. The Analyst will also be responsible for managing and issuing daily exposure reports and collateral reports. The Analyst will also be responsible for entering all transactions into the Credit and Collateral management system and will ensure accurate record keeping of all collateral held and posted.
The Energy Risk Analyst must be able to work under strict timelines since other internal stakeholders are dependent on some of the work. The Analyst must be detail oriented, be able to multi-task, and be able to resolve multiple issues at the same time. The Analyst will be expected to independently identify and resolve issues.
Verifies that energy trading transactions have been entered into SCE’s deal capture system accurately
Actively works with trading and contract personnel to ensure transactions are accurately captured in the deal capture system
Identifies potential trade exceptions and documents them based on internally approved limits and policies
Reports transaction summaries and exceptions to senior management
Coordinates with the credit department and invoicing personnel to ensure deals are closed out and accounted for
Responsible for uploading and maintaining energy prices in the deal capture system
Coordinates and works with internal and external auditors on data requests
Manages and issues exposure reports and collateral reports
Monitors expiring collateral and coordinates with banks or insurance companies to draw on collateral, when necessary
Initiates and processes margin calls with counterparties and clearing firms.Expeditiously resolves margin disputes.
Receives and reviews collateral instruments such as letters of credit, parental guarantees, surety bonds, escrow accounts, and cash for accuracy and processes for approval
Creates letters of credit when SCE is required to post collateral
Enters all transactions in the credit and collateral management system to ensure accurate record of all collateral held and posted
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Economics or related field
Two years with experience in finance, accounting, or energy industry
Proficient with Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
Strong verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate effectively and with impact, with peers and management personnel
Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
Must demonstrate the ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to follow Edison Safety protocols and principals
Experience with energy contracts, risk management related to energy procurement, or the CAISO market
Knowledge of accounting processes and procedures
Demonstrated experience with macros, database queries
Knowledge of Entegrate, Endur, or other commodity trading systems
Experience with SAP
