Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Organizational Unit is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.


The Technical Specialist- TSP3 (Land Base Mapping) will engage with multiple individuals and teams at various levels, interacting with peers and management daily to complete assigned tasks. They will maintain strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, while advising and analyzing to provide direction and guidance. This position will provide direct support for all Land Base activities including but not limited to FIM, CGIS, Michael Baker Uplifts, FSA, IT and UAT. The TSP 3 will report to the Senior Supervisor for Survey & Land Base Mapping.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Lead and support in any analysis for MichaelBaker deliveries

  • Provide analysis and delta reports fordiscrepancies related to FIM, CGIS, FSA, MB.

  • Provide support for all Land Base interactionswith IT.

  • Support Real Properties GEDM and GIS Managerswith reports or analysis.

  • Lead and provide User Acceptance TestingSupport to IT.

  • Analyze and coordinate Survey Mapping assetuplifts in Geo-view.

  • Experienceusing several computer applications (e.g., SAP, ArcGIS, Map 3D, eWorld, GoogleEarth Pro, NearMap etc.)

  • Identifyingways to streamline assessment processes and procedures.

  • Followingprescribed courses of action or developing own course of action for uniqueissues

  • Establishing and maintaining high standards ofexcellence, communicating frequently and openly, engaging others in thesolution of system problems and responding professionally to personnelrequirements.

  • Effective decision making, results delivery,team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology andinnovation.

  • Must have a minimum of three years of GIS-centric computerized maintenancemanagement system experience.

  • Must have experience in ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS for Server, ArcGIS Onlineorganizations, AutoCAD and Map3D.

Desired qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Business or relatedfield or an equivalent amount of education, training and experience.

  • Thorough knowledge and experience with projectmanagement principles, tools and techniques, including coordinating andplanning with internal and external organizations, and functioning effectivelyunder tight time constraints.

  • Ability to serve as senior staff expert andprovide leadership, direction, training and mentoring to staff.

  • Ability to accurately gather and analyzeinformation and make strategic decisions regarding project scope, impact,policy, development, and implementation.

  • Strong oral and written communication skillswith the ability to clearly communicate data, context, and implications tomanagement and stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated experience leading projects andensuring action items are completed on or before deadlines.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with the followingsoftware tools: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Visio, Access andProject.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to integrate workacross relevant areas, manage risks appropriately, manage information, andprovide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

  • Must demonstrate effective resource and projectplanning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability tostay current with relevant technology and innovation.


  • Candidates for this positionmust be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employerin the United States without visa sponsorship.

  • This position will be based inPomona, CA but could incorporate field visits as directed.
