L.A. Care Health Plan Senior Communications & Community Relations Specialist in Los Angeles, California
DUTIES The Senior Communications & Community Relations Specialist provides support and expertise on L.A. Care's communications and community relations initiatives with a special emphasis on the Regional Community Advisory Committees (RCACs), Coordinated Care Initiative (CCI) Councils, Executive Community Advisory Committee (ECAC), Health Promoters Program, and Family Resource Centers. A key creative member of a cross-functional communications and community outreach and engagement team, this position is responsible for supporting the Senior Director in leading activities that the Senior Director identifies as “special projects”. This position assists in strategic planning of community stakeholder activities, development of cultural and linguistically appropriate messaging for distinct interal and external stakeholder groups, ensuring all internal stakeholders are in sync with organizational messaging, and establishing and nurturing new partnerships that benefit L.A. Care. This position is also responsible for providing support and serving as a subject matter expert internally and externally at local events and stakeholder/consumer meetings, and may represent the Senior Director in his absence at selected meetings. This position must have the ability to adapt to a changing environment and be able to successfully prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously that will range in scope, priority and complexity. This position also works on more complex initiatives and helps to support and mentor more junior specialists. Qualified candidates will have a background successfully building relationships both internally and externally to achieve communications and community relations goals, organizing and leading workgroups and committees, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and presenting complex topics in a simplified way for a variety of stakeholders in small and large group settings.
**QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION** Required High School Diploma
Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related social science, Communications Marketing Journalism or related field.
EXPERIENCE Required: With High School Diploma: 6-8 years of relevant and increasingly responsible experience developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. Experience planning and leading committees, including developing agendas and minutes, following up on action items, and managing interpersonal dynamics. Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders to provide education to consumers, providers, and advocates.
Preferred: With Associate's Degree: 5 years of relevant and increasingly responsible experience developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
With Bachelor's Degree: 3-5 years of relevant and increasingly responsible experience developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
