Shire Manufacturing Tech 1- Temp in Los Angeles, California

This position reports to 1st shift, Monday to Friday 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Due to business need, on select occasion employees may be required to work overtime and/or support operations on an alternate shift.

The Manufacturing Cleaning Technician is responsible for executing cleaning processes in production while strictly adhering to cGMP, environmental health and safety guidelines and any other related regulations which could apply. Under the general direction of the lead technician and the overall direction of the supervisor, this position shall be responsible for the hands on execution of all room cleanings in the production area and surrounding corridors outside the production area. ​

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform removal of hazardous waste.

  • Maintain Fractionation area housekeeping (per GMP compliance) such as: cleaning walls, floors, doors, drains, windows, and other general surface areas.

  • Empty trash containers and maintain an adequate amount of cleaning supplies.

  • Supports all local manufacturing operations.

  • Supply components, small parts, tubing, etc.

  • Complete relevant paperwork following GDP/GMP guidelines.

  • Manually clean portable equipment and small parts.

  • Participate on Continuous Improvement Teams.

  • Receive and distribute supplies into the production area as necessary.

  • Perform daily cleaning of the production area to maintain in GMP fashion.

  • Train other technicians

  • May perform other duties as assigned ​

Qualifications

  • ​​​​Able to assist with prioritization of assignments in order to maximize support for the Fractionation production area.

  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills and understanding of cGMP regulations.

  • Must be able to read and follow detailed written instructions.

  • Good interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment.

  • This position requires shift, weekend and holiday work.Overtime may be required at times.

  • The incumbent must work in a clean room environment wearing special garments.Additionally, personal protective equipment must be worn due to safety requirements.

  • Knowledge of basic chemical and biological safety procedures.

  • May require immunization before performing work within the manufacturing area. ​

Education and/or experience ​

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent.No experience required.Related manufacturing experience is preferred.Ability to read, write, speak English and communicate effectively. Should possess basic math skills. ​

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to carry up to 25 lbs., lift up to 50 lbs., and push/pull > 100 lbs. (with the assistance of material handling equipment).

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time (up to 2 hours at a time followed by a 15 minute break), over an entire 8 or 12 hour shift.

  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs while wearing special gowning.

  • May require bending, twisting, reaching overhead, and/or squatting motions to perform certain tasks.

Working Environment

  • Must be able to work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Will be required to follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body.

  • No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in the manufacturing environment.

  • Will work in a cold, wet environment

  • Must be able to work multiple shifts, including weekends.

  • Must be able to work overtime as required (APPLICABLE TO SNE only).

  • May be required to work in a confined area.

  • Some Clean Room and cool/hot storage conditions.
