We have an immediate career opportunity for a qualified Customs Brokerage Agent at our Los Angeles LAX location. As a Customs Brokerage Agent, you will ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products. You will also compute duties, tariffs, price conversions, as well as calculating the weight and volume of merchandise exported/imported from foreign destinations. In addition you will also be asked to examine various documents including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements and may contact customs officials to obtain release of incoming freight and resolve delays.

Key Accountabilities:

Effectively classify dutiable import shipments while ensuring compliance with all government agency regulations

Process compliance related requests from customers, US Customs and other government agencies, while ensuring compliance with governing regulations

Communicate with origin and destination locations regarding shipment clearance status, special handling, and entry corrections

Communicate with Customs and other government agencies to resolve entry issues and obtain release of inbound freight

Process or apply for Import/Export permits or licenses

Participate in the establishment, monitoring and revision of procedures and service standards for the customs clearance operation and assist in ensuring processes are consistently administered

Assist DHL’s customers with any government audits and requests for documentation and information

Process protests, post entry amendments (Post Summary Corrections), CF28s, CF29s, Carnets, and Voluntary Tenders

Processing all types of entries to include quota, FDA, ADD, TIB, etc

Position Requirements:

5+ years of experience in transportation or customs preferred.

Customs Broker’s License highly preferred (but not required)

Must be highly organized.

Able to maintain open lines of communication

Able to work independently with little or no supervision

Experienced entry writer proficient in USHTS classification, Free Trade Agreements, and post entry procedures.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Applications and web-based applications.

Excellent oral and written communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills; position requires constant communication with customers, government entities, and internal DHL functions

Able to type 50 words per minute and proficiency in 10 key data entry
