JOB OVERVIEW: Experience 3 to 5 years manual lathe and mill machinistDuties include but are not limited to the following:Makes an effort for continuous improvement to work processes for production and/or quality controlResponsible for following rules and regulations stated in the company handbook, notices and postings.Responsible for following the written and verbal directions of leads, supervisor and managementResponsible for maintaining a safe and clean work environment as well as follow the Code of Safe Work Practices.Wiliness and ability to understand and adhere the company quality system in work processesAbility to produce parts utilizing a conventional Lathe and Milling machine.Apply knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machine ability of materials and layout techniques. Read and understand blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines. Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth of angle of cut; enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media. Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required. Verifies conformance of finished work product to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.
